INTIMATE ALBION, CA LESBIAN WEDDING
MEET CHRISTIANE & ALLI!
How long have you been together?
Where do you two live? Tell us a little bit about what you both spend a majority of your time doing.
We just moved to Minneapolis, MN after having lived in almost every other part of the country. Christiane is a morning local news reporter and Alli works in economic development and coaches soccer. We love exploring new places… all we ever need is a good coffee shop, a winding trail and our weird pups!
We were living in Connecticut when Alli decided to take control over our four-year anniversary plans. It was the COLDEST January morning, and the plan was to watch the sunrise at this epic spot in the Northwest corner. As the sun was coming up, Alli gave Christiane her “card”, which was actually a children’s book Alli had written telling their story. On the last page of the book she asked, “Will you marry me?” Then we got brunch.
Our venue was this perfect little spot in Albion, California, with our ceremony in the redwoods and the reception in an open farm-style backyard. Everyone was waiting for us in the woods when we arrived, and when we started walking down the little trail that served as our aisle, the property owners’s farm dog, Beckett, decided he really wanted to lead the way. So he did! He sat off to the side quietly while we exchanged vows, then, as if rehearsed, he joined us again to walk to the reception.
Less is more! We loved the intimacy and simplicity of a small wedding– it truly felt like a great day shared with our favorite people.
We visited a few off-beat venues and this one just stuck. When we met the family who owns it, we learned they also happen to be awesome people and we felt really lucky that they loved the idea of having a small wedding there.
We don’t yet feel qualified to have a definitive top three, but our officiant shared some advice with us that we’ll never forget: Marriage is not one relationship with one person– it’s many relationships with one person.
You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go (Miley Cyrus covering Bob Dylan– not sorry)
Tennessee Whiskey- Chris Stapleton (First dance!)
Sleep on the Floor- The Lumineers
She is so talented and an empowering storyteller, and after getting to spend a random weekend adventure with her, we learned she’s a pretty amazing human, too!
