Logan's Roadhouse Branding Session
Last month I took a last minute flight to Houston, TX to meet up with some of the crew at Logan’s Roadhouse. I was greeted by happy faces and hugs. We immediately went to Arcodoro, one of the most eclectic restaurants in town, to talk more about the history and the vision of Logan’s. They have a lot of big things going on! What an experience it was working with Maria Rivera (Senior Vice President of Operations) and Michelle Zavolta (Chief People Officer) that day. Between the two of them, they have worked with some pretty incredible companies. Maria came from T.G.I. Friday’s, Hilton, Harrah’s and Disney and Michelle from Rare Hospitality and Hooter’s. My favorite brands to work with are those that genuinely value the importance of their people. They listen to them. They take their opinions to heart and make adjustments accordingly. It was great to sit in on their meetings, snap a few headshots and visit a Logan’s Roadhouse to hang out with their employees. What a fun day! Here are a few questions I was able to ask Maria in between her travels on Logan’s National tour:
1. What do you think makes Logan’s stand out from other restaurants?
In a word- Culture! We are unassuming and authentic with a little bit of whimsy. You can come as you are and get great, slow-cooked ribs, a very cold beer and renew yourself on your road to life. We are based out of Nashville, Music City U.S.A., and music is a huge part of our culture too.
2. Tell us a little more about the national tour.
Logan’s was very excited to announce its new partnership with ASCAP. On September 15the in Nashville, TN, Logan’s and ASCAP announced “MUSIC CITY LIVE!,” a national country music tour that is the cornerstone of an alliance between the two organizations to promote emerging, unsigned songwriter-artists. This collaboration is an industry first! In Spring 2016, the 15 city bus tour will hit the road. The tour will support emerging artists and give them a safe environment in which to play and give our guests a chance to hear great new music while they visit us. ASCAP President Paul Williams said: “ASCAP’s mission is to make it possible for our members’ music to reach as many music lovers as it can. To do that we need partners who are as passionate about music as we are. That’s why we are thrilled to join forces with Logan’s Roadhouse to promote some of Nashville’s emerging and most gifted songwriters. These artists deserve a chance to be discovered, and this unique tour will bring their music to audiences throughout the country in an exciting new way.” Logan’s is also showcasing a special curated playlist of 400 songs within our four walls.
3. When I visited with you guys it wasn’t uncommon for a lot of the managers to have been with Logan’s for over 15 years! Why do you think this is?
People can bring their genuine selves to the table and have fun at work! You can be yourself and are given the opportunity to have a say in the work that we do. I have never worked for a company that gives its team members such a big voice. We are non-layered, unassuming and have a great culture!
5. Any big future plans for Logan’s that you can let us in on?
Stay tuned – there are lots of great things happening regarding people and restaurant growth!
6. So you’ve been on the road A LOT over the past month. What were the top 3 songs in your headphone when you traveled?
“Welcome to New York” –Taylor Swift – Taylor makes me jam!
“Danza Kuduro” – Don Omar- I’m a Fast & Furious junkie!
“Photograph” – Ed Sheeran – been playing it all summer
