SNOWY JACKSON HOLE LESBIAN WEDDING

SNOWY JACKSON HOLE LESBIAN WEDDING

Hello, it’s me again…sappy, hopeless romantic Steph. I was just telling a friend that I was sipping coffee and searching for thee perfect song to match this story. I get THAT FEELING when I find it. My favorite part is organizing the images to make you feel like you have a front seat to an intimate wedding. I get super giddy. I want you to feel the story as you’re scrolling. Natalie and Deidre’s wedding was my first one in the snow…and when I say snow I mean the most snow Jackson Hole has seen in 27 years. Several times you could only see half of my body because we kept sinking. All in a days work! It was so dreamy and perfect in every single way. From the board games and ice cream around the fire to the Grand Tetons making an appearance just minutes before the ceremony. And now a little more about the brides:

How long have you been together?

We met a little over 8 years ago at work.

Where do you two live? Tell us a little bit about what you both spend a majority of your time doing.
We live in south central Kentucky currently. We lived a short time in Arizona and really miss it. We both work for the same company in the healthcare field. We spend a lot of time planning vacations or our next move (we have bought and sold 5 homes together in the last 8 years). We love spending time outdoors with our dogs which can be challenging in the crazy Kentucky weather.

What is the first thing you remember about the other when you first met?

Deidre: I remember telling my best friend how beautiful Natalie was. I can still remember the black shirt she was wearing and thinking what a dream it would be date her.
Natalie: I was slow to the situation. I remember working with her and thinking she was a party girl. The first time she came over to introduce our dogs I remember thinking she smelled so good. I had only dated men previously and was quite naive about the crush Deidre had until she bravely sent a text message “Happy Valentines Day beautiful”. That was the turning point for sure and the 4 little words that started our relationship.

How did the proposal go down?

Deidre had bought the ring secretly with the intent of proposing on vacation in Puerto Rico, however, due to her excitement she made it home from the store and asked immediately upon arrival. I was sitting in my sweats in the bed.

Was there a memory from your wedding that sticks out more than others?

Nat:We both fell in the snow-thigh deep-several times in our wedding gowns trying to get that perfect shot. I also remember thinking the mountains would not be present during the wedding due to the weather (even though I booked a cabin with a “view”) I had convinced myself I would be okay with it. I would be married mountains or not….but just prior to the ceremony the clouds lifted and the mountains appeared. It was kind of my hallelujah moment.

D: having to sleep on the tiny pull out sofa bed when we got stuck in Jackson an extra night-9 family members deep in a 3 bedroom cabin…fun times.

What is one piece of advice that you would give to other couples planning their wedding?

Nat: Be flexible with planning. What you think it will be and what happens is not always the same. D:”let your wife plan it”

Why did you choose the wedding venue/location you did?

Nat: love the Grand Tetons. I wanted a mountain view. The extreme snow was just extra and limited several of the possible venues.
D: It didn’t matter to me. The court house would have been fine.

Did you run into any issues with vendors who were not gay friendly?

Our wedding was very low key. We got permission to have the ceremony at the cabin and then did a dinner after at a local restaurant. The local videographer- Apres Events was super to work with. We knew Steph Grant would be okay with it.

Top 3 things that make a marriage last?

Deidre: love, understanding and patience.
Natalie: love, honesty and definitely patience-listening is a challenge for Deidre.

What do you think makes it hard about planning a wedding without the support of your family?

It was most difficult to know it was not a happy day for everyone. We both had family present who love us even through disagreement.

Why’d you choose Steph to document your wedding day?

hello…she’s the best. have you seen those photos of angel and monica? we basically planned our wedding around her availability. The moment I read about the elopement package I knew it was our chance to have an awesome photographer tell our love story.

Press play, sit back and enjoy my view of this stunning love story in Jackson Hole, Wyoming…
