Happy Lesbian Couples

Happy Lesbian Couples

Today was just one of those days. When you sit there and soak in the fact that things you have worked so hard for over the years are finally paying off. If February 2010 Steph could look ahead at February 2015 Steph I think she’d fall over. This month marks 5 years since I quit my corporate jobs to try something different. For a couple of years I photographed families, babies, a few weddings, I painted and sold them, I designed some logos, I delivered Edible Arrangements on Valentines day…anything to get by while I figured out a plan. I wanted my work to mean something. I didn’t want it to feel like work. I knew if I worked hard enough I could get there eventually. Truth be told my “plan” didn’t start to unfold until the middle of 2013.

I moved to Dallas a year ago, FINALLY became an LLC and decided to focus on my niche. At the end of 2013 I decided to make the transition into marketing myself only as an LGBT wedding photographer. Which was scary. To possibly lose clients because of it…but to me, it felt right. I had a few people recommend that I separate my corporate work from my LGBT work so I didn’t lose business from the corporate world, but that also didn’t feel right to me. I wanted clients who knew without a shadow of a doubt who they were working with. Turns out…I didn’t lose any corporate clients. I actually brought on more. Then I started booking these wonderful lesbian clients whose stories needed to be told. 2014 was my busiest year yet. Packed with adventure and love. I realized that once I decided to do what I love, and once I FINALLY let all of Steph Grant show up…things started taking off. More than I could’ve dreamed. Don’t hide. Be you. Be unapologetically ambitious. Stay humble. Learn from others. Surround yourself with people who inspire you and get you. Let those people go that discourage you or look down on your for following your passion. Now is the time to make things happen! I am proof that you can do what you love. It sure is a process but it is possible. I seriously wouldn’t be where I am on this journey without the continued support of my clients and my friends. I know a lot of you have followed this crazy adventure since back in my Human Resources days at a hospital. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for being on my side.

Today I am so happy to say that over the last 5 days my incredible clients & their wedding stories have been featured on Cosmopolitan, Snapchat’s discover sectionBustle, Huffington Post, SheKnows, It Gets Better Project, Matthew Shepard Foundation, LGBT News, & LezTalk to name a few. Oh and if you missed this cute little ad…you must watch it at once and get all sappy like I did:

Oh you just wait…2015 is going to be a big year. So many ideas in the works. So many exciting things to announce that I might explode. Keep checking back for some big announcements. For now…I thought I’d post some beautiful and happy lesbian couples that you haven’t seen anywhere because they live on my 4TB hard drives. Enjoy! [and play the tune below]…
